Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Daniel and Henrik Sedin Poised to Make History in 2016-17 Exactly 17 years after signing their first pro contracts, Daniel and Henrik Sedin are poised to become the first Vancouver Canucks players in franchise history to crack the 1,000-point plateau.

I wouldn't be surprised if Demko got 2 years in the A. He's still quite young.

Who do we bring in to back-up Markstrom next season?

I think much of that will depend on how Markstrom fares this season. If he improves then they'll look for him to shoulder the load, if he stays the same or regresses they could be looking for someone to split the duties.

".....when asked about a possible future with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“I would not count on that,” Tavares told Sportsnet’s Andrew Walker

There goes that plan

Thanks Carol,

Demko should get 2 years minimum for sure at the AHL level.

I think people forget how big of a jump it is going to the AHL. Especially for college students who are only playing 30-40 games.

Another reason why Hutton's jump last year was so impressive.

People love to compare him to Schneider who was just as dominant at the college level. He went on to play 3 season in the AHL where he initially struggled and became a very good goalie at that level. He also struggled initially during his first callups in the NHL.

Expecting Demko to be in the NHL let alone the starter in 2 years is very optimistic.

Am I the only one who thinks that Markstrom has a Ben Bishop-esque run to him. Its laughable to me that Benning gets raked over the coals for Corrado, Forsling, Granlund - and Murray can trade Bishop for a 5-7' centerman who cant skate and got his points giving the puck to Stanmkos. I can't wait to see Hall pot 50 goals this year, and the Oilers lose McDavid to an injury and get the first overall pick again.

Now it looks like a really bad trade but at the time Conachar was coming off being named the AHL player of the year as a rookie, which I believe is the first time that has happened. He put up 39 goals, 80 points and 114 PIM during that season and was a big part of Norfolk winning the championship that year.

At the time of the trade Conachar had 9 goals and 24 points in 35 games. Most people again thought that it was a good deal for both teams as Ottawa was stacked in net with Anderson, Lehner and Bishop.

Both Ottawa and St. Louis moved on from Bishop ranking him behind other goalies in their system.

Daniel in the background, Henrik in the foreground.

I can't believe Ovechkin is only a few points behind Hank in 300 less games, that amounts to almost four years less. Wow!!

And someone said on the last thread that nothing good comes from losing. I'd suggest that Ovechkin (1st overall) and Backstrom (3rd overall) really help the Capitals be the contending team they have been for the past several years.

Anyone ever hear of Henrik (3rd overall) and Daniel (2nd overall) Sedin?

Too many teams tank for it to be successful. Build, build, build. I like to strategy of trading the 2nd round picks for upgrades for positional needs like Gudbranson.
Benning needs to keep hitting on his 1st round picks to be successful.

Don't rush the kid ...if he is supposed to be a Schnieder than let him develop ...then by the time he is ready you will know what you have in guys like bo, Boeser, Hutton, tree, OJ, Sven, etc and can add pieces that are needed
